Vasopressin Increases Cerebral Perfusion Pressure but not Cerebral Blood Flow in Neurosurgical Patients with Catecholamine-Refractory Hypotension: A Preliminary Evaluation Using the Non-Invasive Quantix ND in Comparison to the Literature

چکیده
The means of treatment of ICU patients is to sustain perfusion and O2 delivery to all major organs to avoid organ damage. On neurosurgical ICU the most important factor is to prevent secondary brain injury after traumatic brain injury (TBI) or subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) due to ischemia or low tissue oxygenation. To minimize the risk of brain ischemia, standard treatment guidelines have been established including the maintenance of a minimum cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP). The management of CPP normally includes the control of intracerebral pressure (ICP) and mean arterial pressure (MAP), since CPP= MAP-ICP. Despite many clincial trials so far no level I evidence for an ideal CPP exists, but the guidelines of the Brain Vasopressin Increases Cerebral Perfusion Pressure but not Cerebral Blood Flow in Neurosurgical Patients with Catecholamine-Refractory Hypotension: A Preliminary Evaluation Using the Non-Invasive Quantix ND in Comparison to the Literature

Simulation study of Hemodynamic in Bifurcations for Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation using Electrical Analogy
Background and Objective: Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (CAVM) hemodynamic is disease condition, results changes in the flow and pressure level in cerebral blood vessels. Measuring flow and pressure without catheter intervention along the vessel is big challenge due to vessel bifurcations/complex bifurcations in Arteriovenous Malformation patients. The vessel geometry in CAVM patients are...
متن کاملوازوموتور راکتیویتی مغز(Cerebrovascular Reactivity) در حاملگی نرمال و پرهاکلامپسی
Background & Aim: Preeclampsia is the major cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Transcranial Doppler(TCD) as a noninvasive procedure is used to assess hemodynamic changes in middle cerebral artery(MCA). Knowing the influence of normal pregnancy and preeclampsia on brain hemodynamics is essential for proper management of anesthesia, labor and vasoactive drug usage in the...
متن کاملSpontaneous Intracranial Hypotension Plus Cerebral Venous Thrombosis: A Case Report Study
This is a case study of a 34-year-old woman who was admitted to hospital with a history of severe orthostatic headache. She was diagnosed as having spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) by undetectable cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure at lumbar puncture, and with evidence of diffuse dural enhancement of the brain detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, the contrast-enhance...
متن کاملAbnormal cerebral blood flow in methamphetamine abusers assessed by brain perfusion single emission computed tomography
Introduction:Amphetamines are central nervous system (CNS) stimulant substances and amphetamine abuse is considered a growing problem in our country. Previous studies revealed destructive effects of amphetamines on metabolism, perfusion and structure of brain. The aim of current study was evaluating regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) disturbances in methamphetamine (MA) abuser...
متن کاملCandesartan Attenuates Ischemic Brain Edema and Protects the Blood–Brain Barrier Integrity from Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Rats
Background: Angiotensin II (Ang II) has an important role on cerebral microcirculation however, its direct roles in terms of ischemic brain edema need to be clarified. This study evaluated the role of central Ang II by using candesartan, as an AT1 receptor blocker, in the brain edema formation and blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption caused by ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injuries in rat. Methods...
